Under J.D.’s leadership, The Summit has grown exponentially and has a bold vision to plant one thousand churches by the year 2050. J.D. earned his Ph.D. from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary and has written several books, including Just Ask, Essential Christianity, and 12 Truths & a Lie. He also serves as a member of the board of directors of Chick-fil-A and as a council member for The Gospel Coalition. J.D. lives in Raleigh with his wife, Veronica, and they have four children.

Derwin L. Gray is the cofounder and lead pastor of Transformation Church in Indian Land, South Carolina. Dr. Gray speaks and preaches nationwide and is the author of several books, including The Good Life, How to Heal Our Racial Divide, and Lit Up with Love. He is a graduate of Southern Evangelical Seminary, where he earned a master of divinity degree and where he was also awarded an honorary doctorate. In 2018, Derwin received his doctor of ministry from Northern Seminary. He is married to Vicki, and they have two adult children.
